Lead/Senior User Researcher (UPA-Shutterfly -L/SUR)

Job Location: Redwood Shores, CA

Description
Shutterfly is seeking a talented and experienced Lead/Senior User Researcher
to drive the overall User Research strategy and conduct user research
studies across multiple product initiatives from concept to post-launch. We
are looking for someone who is passionate about driving customer insights
through a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. In
this role, you will collaborate closely with User Experience Designers and
Product Managers to help shape the overall product and design direction.
Through your expertise and insights, you will have a strong influence in
shaping the future user experience for millions of customers who love our
award winning website. This is a highly visible role and you will play a key
role representing the voice of our customers in many contexts including
design trade-offs, helping balance business and customer needs, executive
presentations, design reviews, etc. This is a fantastic opportunity to work
on a successful consumer web site with a strong brand and a passionate
cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:
· Set the overall User Research strategy for Shutterfly to include
establishing various user research methods such as usability testing, field
studies, participatory design and other quantitative and qualitative
methods.
· Conduct usability testing in the lab leveraging interactive and
static prototypes. Collaborate with UE designers to establish timelines and
schedule usability tests that help guide the design direction.
· Evangelize user research methods throughout the organization and
actively share the insights of user research through various communication
channels.
· Be the voice of the customer and advocate the best user experience to
help guide the design and product decisions.
· Collaborate across multiple product teams to understand the user
research needs and map out a plan to ensure timely execution of research
during the design phase.

Requirements
* 5+ years experience in User Research working preferably for an ecommerce
or consumer website.
* Highly skilled at conducting usability testing and field studies with a
proven track record of leveraging qualitative techniques to guide the design
direction.
* Excel at working on multiple projects and be able to move between projects
with ease. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent knowledge of User Experience principles and guidelines.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
* Ability to collaborate actively & effectively on multidisciplinary teams.
* Masters in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Media Arts &
Sciences, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology or
related field.
