Portfolio Tips (for UX job seekers):

Showcase your talent with the Perfect Portfolio

•   First, presentation is everything, right?

Portfolios and websites should be cleanly laid out and nicely proportioned among the various    areas of work you may have done.

•   Second, you are a UX Designer, and so your website/ portfolio should deliver pleasant experience to      users

A potential employer becomes confused or frustrated trying to navigate your portfolio, you’re          at a disadvantage.

•   The finished product isn’t everything!

The process can be just as important to employers when they are determining how you work,    and what your method is for delivering results.

So, instead of supplying a portfolio that merely lists the websites or applications that you have    created, it’s highly desired by hiring managers to see the exact design deliverables you created,    including concept sketches, wireframes, sitemaps, process flows, navigation flows, etc

•   Think of your portfolio as an opportunity to solidify your skills as a UX Designer—it’s a micro project!

A portfolio that is attractive, creative, easy to navigate, intuitive and enjoyable to interact with    lends to the fact that as a UX Designer you understand the core aspects of your work playground,    and you incorporate those skills and that joy into your own work all the time.

•   On that same note, it almost goes without saying that for Visual Designers, a portfolio that is      aesthetically appealing and elegant is a MUST! (And not have one that is impossible to figure out how      to open or filled with glitter!).
